At A Pediatric Evolution (APE), we provide speech and language support in the following areas:
Our speech-language therapy services support a wide range of communication needs, including spoken language, social communication, and alternative forms of communication, while addressing the coordination of speech and oral movements when appropriate.
Expressive Language
We support children in using words and sentences to express their thoughts, needs, and ideas. Therapy focuses on vocabulary development, sentence formation, and functional communication.
Receptive Language
We help children improve their understanding of language, including following directions, answering questions, and understanding everyday concepts.
Speech Sound Disorders (Articulation and Phonology)
We help children speak more clearly so they are easier to understand. Therapy targets individual sound errors and patterns that impact speech clarity, and may include support for oral motor coordination of the lips, tongue, and jaw as it relates to speech production.
Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)
We support children in developing the planning and coordination needed for speech. Therapy focuses on building accurate and consistent speech production and may incorporate motor-based approaches to support sequencing and coordination of oral movements.
Social Communication
We help children use language effectively in social situations, including conversation skills, social understanding, and peer interactions.
Fluency (Stuttering)
We support children in developing smoother, more confident speech while promoting positive communication experiences.
Phonics
We help children build sound awareness skills that support reading and spelling, including recognizing and working with sounds in words.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
We support children in using a variety of communication methods, including AAC devices and systems, to express themselves and access more robust language.
Feeding and Oral Function
We may support feeding and oral function as it relates to communication and coordination of the lips, tongue, and jaw, in collaboration with occupational therapy when appropriate.
Voice
We support children in using their voice effectively, including vocal quality, volume, and vocal health as it relates to communication.
